What's wrong with this country? Jailing an innocent person for trying to disseminate facts?

Malaysia's most popular blogger, Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin was charged with sedition for allegedly implying the Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife were involved in the murder of Altantuya. The sedition charge stems from an article titled "Let's Send the Altantuya Murderers to Hell" that Raja Petra posted on his site.

Raja Petra said he was not worried by the sedition charge.

"I am happy. I want to challenge the government. We bloggers have declared war on the government. We are not scared of the government. The government should be scared of us," he told reporters before going into the court.

"Is it seditious to influence people against corrupt leaders? There is nothing seditious," he said. "Do you think I do not have evidence?"

He was allowed bail of RM5,000 but refused to post it and he was taken to the Sungai Buloh prison. Hearing of his case has been set for Oct 6-10. If found guilty, Raja Petra could be jailed for a maximum of three years and/or face a fine of up to RM5,000.

Well, they can try locking him up but they can never lock up the truth, so I'm sure the truth will prevail eventually.

Happy weekend :)
