My definition of the word shopaholic means you are a compulsive shopper who spends beyond your limits and buys things you have no use for. I USED to be a shopaholic. Just the thought of me going to hit the mall gives me excitement. I could spend 8 hours in a shopping mall. My closet WAS overflowing with never-worn clothing. My attic WAS bulging with boxes and boxes of shoes that have never touched pavement. One day, I'll show my shopping bags of different brands which I have collected thus far. I cannot resist entering a store with the word "70% discount", "CLEARANCE" and "SALE" just to check out what's on sale. If everything is so cheap, it's like, if I don't buy it, omg, I will regret in the future when I need it.
Everything went well for me until... the credit card bills came!!! Debts are piling high and I feel like I am paying my credit cards FOREVER! What began as joy at finding a few good bargains can end in financial ruin.
I could feel the pain of having not enough money at the end of the month. On top of it, I still have to live for the rest of the month without enough cash for daily expenses. The amount of stress created by some creditors seemed to be growing each day. I was suffering for a while until I was introduced to some debt management programs. It was a total surprised to me when a non-profit debt management group really did help me out. They helped me in so many ways which I could not even imagine. They solved that via some negotiations with my creditors. In fact, they helped out to reduce some late payment charges and interests. This program consolidated all my debts into one affordable payment scheme with new interest rate. Isn't this great or what? It is simply amazing how tedious and never ending stress ended just with a snap of fingers when one finally seeks help from a professional counselor. My advice is not to be shy when you are in debts. Seek help before it takes your smiles and laughter away!
Well, I still occasionally shop for clothes, shoes and handbags, of course. But, I'm no longer a shopaholic because I managed to keep my spending under strict control! My goal is to get me out of debt!!
