How was Earth Hour at your place, peeps?
Looking around my neighborhood, no one else was participating.
Many are critical that Earth Hour is a public relations stunt. Even if it is, does that matter when the purpose is to draw attention to the fears of many that man-made global warming is real and is a threat to the earth's climate?
Well, turning off our lights for an hour will not stop climate change but it does demonstrate that our individual action is important and adds up to make a big difference. However, we must reduce our use of energy in a drastic way, and not just for 60 minutes in a year. I don't just turn off my lights for one hour a year; I do it every time I leave my room. If there isn't anyone else in the room, logically it shouldn't need to be lit up.
So, did you participate in Earth hour?

Hi Monica! :* :* :* :*
;) ;) ;) ;)
morning te mon!
even here too te mon..many are not participating.. :(
I agree with what you're saying. It's only logical to turn the lights when they're not in use. It shouldn't only apply to Earth Hour at all.
Happy Sunday to you sweetie! :* :* :*
after an hour, from 8:30-9:30, i slept.. :D
:* :* :* :* :*
:-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

Of course, we too turn off our lights when not in use.. Happy EH to u and R....
I like the Twitter off light thingy ha ha but to 'switch on' laight again a bit leceh, had to attach pic again kan? :-D :-D
Happy Sunday Mon, I am up! 8-) 8-)
8-) 8-)
Yeah! I did participate in one in a luxurious 5 stars resort.
Of course it is a publicity stunt. But then again let it be a start. :D
publicity stunt or not.. at least it's free.. lots other you got to spend money and the ironic thing about it is pple tend to swallow them up.. oh well
Have a great Sunday dearie!
I don't know why people are such cynics. It's a campaign to evoke awareness just like those "Stop Smoking" or "Say NO to drugs" campaigns to promote a healthier lifestyle. It doesn't mean people stop but it shouldn't deter those who fight for it, right? It's all for our own good anyways.
I, for one, was more than willing to participate at home just like I do every year. Although 2009, we went to CapSquare for the Earth Hour walk, the other two years were just spent at home. The best thing about it was, I told Buddy that it was Earth Hour and he immediately started turning off the lights and switches as well. So for me, as long as I can impart some knowledge to my son, that's good enough for me.
We had a blast anyways.. the kids wanted to hear stories of my childhood that the whole hour passed by in a flash.. I reminded the kids that it doesn't take TV or computers to have fun too..
Anyways, although not many participated in my area, at least I'm happy to know that you and I both did!! hahaah .. :)
Yes, I did particpate but still with my laptop on. :D
C'on what is not a "Public Relations Stunt" ?
But this one, you don't need to spend a dime. And is actually asking you to save an hour of YOUR electricity bill! So, if you don't want to participate, fine it's YOUR money. But don't stupidly judge others who wants to participate and save some of THEIR money.
The thought and spirit of it all is what matters. On a bigger picture it is telling all of us to reduce our own carbon footprint. It's a good thing! No cost here and definitely nothing to argue about. Stupid people are not worth engaging :-P

hello dearie! 8-) 8-) 8-)
our house n neighborhood all switched off light during the earth hour..
but.... very obvious that pc and lappy and tv all still on! *DONT_KNOW* *DONT_KNOW*

I make it a point to turn off the lights when not in use too, not just for EH.
