Rifling through the emails in my inbox, I came across this piece of information and thought that I should share it here! However, I do not yet prove the accuracy of these tests, personally. Perhaps, ladies out there should try them whenever the time comes. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. Unless, if you don't mind being watched while trying on clothes in a changing room.

In front of the changing room, take out your mobile phone and make sure it can make calls. If u cannot make a call, there is a hidden camera. This is due to the interference of fiber optic cable during the signal transfer.

When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror or actually, a 2-way mirror i.e., they can see you, but you can't see them. There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms or bathroom or bedrooms.

It is very difficult to identify the surface by just looking at it. So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at?

Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is a GENUINE mirror.

However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR! (There may be someone seeing you from the other side). So remember, every time you see a mirror, do the "fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything. It is simple to do.

The reason there is a gap on a real mirror is that the silver is on the back of the mirror UNDER the glass whereas with a two-way mirror, the silver is on the surface. Keep it in mind!

Ladies, share this with your friends.

Guys, share this with your sisters, wives, daughters, girlfriends, colleagues, etc.

So, be aware, ladies! You could be on camera and that little bug in sensitive areas such as washrooms and changing rooms could make you an actress very soon.

i've heard of this too and been testing it whenever i am in toilets.. and so far, all doesn't touch my finger image. I've also tried on my own mirror and it reflects just the same as in the toilets i tested. :)

Oooh these are very valuable pieces of information. I'm the type that spends a lot of time in the changing room when I buy something, unlike my mom who just grabs things she likes in her size and heads straight to the counter to pay.. and if she doesn't like it, she'll try to pawn it off on us. LMAO!

My late dad has always been telling us to be careful of two-way mirrors for as long as I can remember. But I never knew the "fingernail test". So thanks so much for this very informational post, Mon!! :)

This is one reason why I rarely try clothes on in dressing rooms.. :-P I know my size, no matter what sizing chart is being used, like if it's a UK based chart or a US based chart.. :-P

I have not tried checking in cheap motels, where I suppose hidden cameras are behind glass mirrors, because if it's a classy hotel, no way there are pervs there, right? :P LOL but just in case, the finger nail test is great info to know.. :-D

Pervs are also the reason why I don't use public toilets, I hold my pee until I get home.. :-P No wonder I have a bladder infection! LOL :-D
