Hey everyone, though I'm feeling a bit tired after two whole days of trying to do too many things at once and rushing from one place to another, I just want to take a moment and say Thank You from the bottom of my bum and heart for all the birthday wishes!

Thank you everyone for the love and gifts you all gave me yesterday (you cannot see me but I'm totally doing a happy dance ), it means a lot to me that you took the time from your busy lives to celebrate my birthday.

Pre-birthday dinner @ Secret of Louisiana (we had our picture taken by our waiter twice with my DSLR, but both were blurry )

Also, I woke up this morning stoked by the many birthday messages on my phone and I wish I had time to reply and thank you all individually on Facebook (thank you for everyone who saw my name today in the upper right corner loll) and Twitter too. Kisses and bear hugs from me, and May God in His infinite mercy continue to bless you all!

Well, I'm now another year older and have a few more wrinkles, whoosh. What's your secret to aging gracefully!? Please share!

Waking up on our 5th morning in Taiwan, we were greeted with a spectacular sunrise and a slightly cool temperature.

On our way from Kaohsiung to Taichung, we stopped here earlier in the day to...

pluck tea leaves!

#1 See these "tea pluckers", they were very serious and concentrating on the leaves and you can see how excited I was, loll!

We were given the requisite presentation on the ins and outs of how the plucking is done, but about 10 minutes later, our tour guide who accompanied us seemed to give up, probably realizing my sister and I were not paying attention and "playing" with the precious leaves.

Then we were offered two types of different teas (you could drink as much as your stomach can hold!) while at the plantation and a visitor center to sit and sip — and, of course, be ready for the 'hard sell'!

#6 Tung Ting Oolong Tea & Matcha Green Tea Powder (NT$2,000 / tin can / box)

My eyes almost popped out of my head when I heard the price! However, they had a buy-two-get-one-free or buy-three-get-two-free deal, which was hard to pass up, especially for those aunties and tea lovers.

#7 "I know my teas are a bit expensive," explained the tea plantation owner, a very funny man. "So I like to offer samples to people so they can leave satisfied with the exact tea they like."

#8 They mixed in a teaspoon full of green tea powder to Yakult (yogurt drink) and it was surprisingly good.

#9 Oolong tea, sometimes known as blue tea, is part fermented and this one - Tung Ting - takes its name from the mountainous region in Taiwan where it's grown. This jade colored oolong is remarkably smooth, with floral undertones.

There are indeed many health benefits of drinking tea, but I can only remember oolong tea is reputed to keep you skinny and young. Alas, I'm not much of a tea person (err... hello coffee!).

We initially had planned to have our dinner at Genji Japanese Restaurant in Hilton PJ but unfortunately, we arrived to a fully booked restaurant for a private function that night, so we ended up having buffet dinner at their coffee house instead. Hotel's coffee house buffet is typically not my choice but we decided to come here anyways because we were starving!

#1

When we walked in, it was relatively quiet as there were not many people.

#2 The restaurant itself is chic and cool, with soft music played in the background.

Priced at RM75++ per person, the buffet (doesn't include drinks) spread comprised local favorites comprising Malay, Chinese and Indian food, a fair range of predictable food. It was good, but not extraordinary. Like most buffets, it's about quantity over quality, but I think they probably have a rotating menu that changes every month for their buffet.

The dinner was Kelvin's treat. THANK YOU very much, Kelvin!

Since I've been procrastinating for about 2 months (?) on this post and I didn't take pictures of everything I ate, I don't remember everything that I had.

#12 My favorite of course was the raw oysters! I really stocked up on that, loll.

So many things I wanted to eat, I wish I had two stomachs! Still, a desserts fanatic like me couldn't pass up the dessert section. They looked irresistible.

#21 What could be more tempting than the sight of melted chocolate flowing down on a fountain?

#22 However, there were only fresh fruits to dip. I wish they had some marshmallows.

Oh gosh, I ate too much I felt like I was going to explode. *goodbye skinny jeans*

Anyway, we didn't want to go home to sleep right away like an oink-oink, so off we went karaoke-ing and let the good times rolled!
